Fall in New York – Conceptual Art Book
Book Binding · Sculpture · Conceptual Art
As a final project in Art of the Book class, we were asked to design and create a book that conveys a landscape. I chose to represent "Fall in New York"—a season that is both beautiful and gritty. Decayed leaves alongside discarded trash give an authentic, real look at what it is like to walk in the streets in fall.
Tools Used: Transparent Tape, Garbage, Thread

Through texture, layering, and material choice, the book invites the viewer to not only see but feel the atmosphere of a New York fall—fleeting beauty amidst urban residue.

This work was inspired by a period of grief and emotional upheaval. The imagery of Mars, Venus, and the Moon in the background serves as symbolic representations of anger, beauty, and the unknown—forces that were very present in my life at the time. The figure in the water, a version of myself, represents vulnerability and transformation as I moved through these emotions.
